A rebirth of Passion
Since a very young age, Kania has always shown passion in art. She decided to further pursue her interest in the art of photography in 2003 by undertaking a degree in Photomedia and Communications in Edith Cowan University, Perth, Western Australia. During her study she learnt the aesthetics and meeting her legendary mentor Max Pam www.maxpam.com where his work inspired her in so many ways that made a turning point in her life. Her then conceptual style of photography was shown in several joint exhibitions in Australia in 2005 and 2006.
Her love for storytelling has been deeply inspired by her intense love for the sky as well as people, art, patterns, and simply everyday life. She was also drawn into the astonishing works of Henry Cartier Bresson, Man Ray, Nan Goldin, Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton and recently Waldemar Hansson where it stimulated her new love for fashion and journalism.
Now after a five year hiatus from photography since 2007 and has worked as a TV Producer in the mighty town of Jakarta she felt something was missing. She has been missing the sunlight, the feel of her fingers clicking the machine. The mundane lifestyle has awakened her longing for storytelling through beautiful imagery. Staying true to herself, she finally decided to come home to her love of the lens, the simple pleasures and prolong her journey of self discovery.
